About

Dr. Jodi Neumann is a licensed social worker with over 16 years of clinical experience. Prior to starting Courageous Life Counseling, she served for 4 years in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base and Vandenberg Air Force Base which are both in California.  While in the Air Force, she managed the domestic violence prevention and intervention program and provided outpatient therapy services to active duty members. From there, she worked at an outpatient therapy clinic for 6 years where she specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a treatment to help people who suffer with emotional dysregulation. She has been in private practice for the past 5 years where she provides an eclectic mix of mindfulness, self-compassion, DBT informed, and EMDR.

She believes it is important for you to connect with your therapist in order to feel safe enough to do the work needed. Every therapist has their own style and personality. Jodi likes to think of herself as laid back and comfortable, kind, genuine, with a good sense of humor. Jodi works well with individuals who are looking for skills-based treatment, are interested in mindfulness-based interventions, and who are willing to practice what they are learning in between sessions. Jodi also works well with individuals who are seeking EMDR therapy to resolve past wounds contributing to current symptoms. Jodi’s theoretical orientation tends to be based in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), DBT, mindfulness and EMDR.

Jodi enjoys biking, hiking, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and generally being out in nature. Traverse City is such a beautiful area and Jodi is excited about the opportunity to work with you!
